Photocatalytic Coatings

Both GENS Nano coatings are built on titanium dioxide (TiO₂), a natural mineral photocatalyst. Activated by light, the TiO₂ surface produces hydroxyl radicals with an oxidising power stronger than chlorine bleach, breaking organic matter — bacteria, viruses, mould, dirt, and pollutants — down into trace carbon dioxide and water. The same science makes interior surfaces self-sanitizing and exterior surfaces self-cleaning.

Certified Bio-Chemistry

Our plant-based Bio Cleaner is independently certified to the European standards for disinfectant efficacy — EN 1276 (bactericidal) and EN 1650 (fungicidal) — passing against a panel of bacteria and fungi. The Plant Tonic, a CFIA-certified bio-stimulant, applies the same principle to agriculture: professional-grade results from natural chemistry, without synthetic chemical risk.

Sustainable by Design

The coatings are water-based with near-zero VOC and use sunlight and rainfall to do the work — no replaceable filters, no harsh chemicals, no repeated re-application. Cleaning concentrates are biodegradable. Across the range, performance and environmental responsibility are engineered to reinforce each other.

How It Works

Light in. Pollutants out.

When light strikes the TiO₂ coating, it excites the surface to generate reactive oxygen species. These break apart any organic matter that lands on the surface — bacteria, viruses, mould, smog, grease, and odours — converting them into harmless carbon dioxide and water. On exteriors, the coating’s hydrophilic surface lets rain sheet across and rinse the loosened dirt away.

Independently Tested

Measured efficacy against the pathogens that matter.

The Self-Sanitizing Coating has been tested against a range of bacteria and against human coronavirus. The table reports measured reduction under controlled conditions.

In a real-world quick-service restaurant deployment, surface ATP on a self-order kiosk dropped from 1121 to 18 RLU after coating — and remained low two months later.

Certified Cleaning Efficacy

GENS Nano Bio Cleaner — certified to EN 1276 & EN 1650.

Independently tested to the European standards for disinfectant efficacy. EN 1276 requires at least a 5-log (99.999%) bactericidal reduction; EN 1650 at least a 4-log (99.99%) fungicidal reduction. The Bio Cleaner passed every organism tested.

What it means

A 5-log reduction means 99.999% of bacteria eliminated; a 4-log reduction, 99.99% of fungi — measured in a quantitative suspension test under the EN protocol.
